2001
The year that housing prices have “corrected to” in Metro Atlanta, according to Case-Shiller. Click on the image and be sure to check out Detroit! hat tip Calculatedriskblog.com Happy Halloween!
On the last day of each month I post a “Big Number” or interesting figure related to real estate in our area.

Wow, this is really interesting. I know prices are down but I am shocked it has reverted to 2001.
Early 2001 was the height of the Atlanta real estate boom before September 11th. After 9/11 real estate here really took a hit while other parts of the country were booming due to low interest rates. Eventually we did come out of that slump and had a few good years of appreciation before the 2008 catastrophe.
I hate to think all of that appreciation is gone now.
I know. This is for metro Atlanta overall and I am sure that areas like North Fulton have not dropped as much. I’ll have to do some research to see what our specific area looks like to compare.
